Mulligan Recovery Centers was born from the vision for innovation in the age-old ways of providing treatment for those who suffer from alcoholism and addiction. Having 35+ years of experience with SUD Treatment, and 70+ years in Long-Term Recovery, the founders of MRC wanted to cultivate an atmosphere that is most productive to the healing of one’s spiritual maladies. The way they found that to be most successful is with being person centered, and investing time into the individual. Together they formulated the backbone of that, which is the C.L.U.E. (Compassion, Love, Understanding and Empathy). When every interaction is lead with those principles, it creates a safe atmosphere for individuals to let their walls down they have built through their active addiction & alcoholism and truly start to heal.
The founders believed in this approach so much, they put it into action at their first men’s Low Intensity Residential Treatment Program. Implementing the C.L.U.E. along with many other modalities of treatment (CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Evidence-Based Treatment, etc.) was not an easy process. It took proper training and the right staff members who truly believed in their mission, and over time saw great results, of graduates celebrating years of sobriety and recovery. Through the clear evidence that their vision was making such a big difference to those Mulligan served, individuals that had been through many other programs where nothing seemed to help them, gain long-term sustained sobriety and recovery, they opened a women’s Low-Intensity Residential Program, with the same results.
With time and experience showing that their processes, structure within the program, and quality of care being at an all-time high, they decided to continue to innovate other levels of care, starting with IOP/OP programs; continuing with their PHP Program. They saw that by keeping smaller group sizes allows for a more intimate quality of care. Implementing case management and peer services allowed Mulligan to help not only in the treatment process but also with life skills such as assistance getting birth certificates, Social Security cards, IDs, driver’s licenses, and even help obtaining a job. Financial literacy, dietary guidance, health & fitness, as well as mental health therapy play a large part in creating a full wrap-around service covering all areas that could affect someone’s long-term recovery. By treating the whole person, it gives participants every opportunity to be successful in their newfound sobriety & recovery and the tools to sustain it for years to come.
Still, to this day, all the founders are very hands-on in the office and available to individuals with an open-door policy. The slogan “Real People. Real Recovery. Real Simple.” came from the vision that there are no Big “I’s” and little “You’s” and that while in our program, we are all equal, we are all doing our best to become a better person, a better, more productive member of society, and to stay clean and sober one day at a time! Mulligan Recovery Centers is locally owned and operated and employs over 30 individuals, with most of them being those with lived experience and Long-Term sustained recovery.
The type of treatment provided at Mulligan might not be for everyone, and that’s ok. One founder says, “If Mulligan was for everyone, it would be for no one.” When searching for a program for a family member, friend or even yourself; one must gauge what level of willingness are they at currently, is long term sustained recovery what is desired? Is structure and accountability something they are willing to participate in? Choosing the right SUD treatment could be the difference between life and death, so if you think what Mulligan Recovery Centers has to offer will be fitting for you or a loved one seeking help, don’t hesitate to reach out to us today.
